Director Biography
Julia Wrona is a documentary filmmaker dedicated to illuminating truth, beauty and untold stories to inspire the world.
For the past five years Julia has worked as an associate producer and assistant editor for a range of documentary projects including Body & Soul: Diana & Kathy which was short listed for an Academy Award, Road To Ingwavuma commissioned by Carlos & Deborah Santana and directed by Emmy Award winner Barbara Rick, Two Weddings and a Future for Academy Award nominated director Alice Elliott, and Annie Oakley for PBS’s American Experience. Julia began her career working for Maysles Films on a variety of documentary projects, most notably as a production coordinator on Albert Maysles’s documentary The Gates about world-renowned artists Christo & Jeanne Claude’s Gates Project in Central Park.
Julia graduated with honors from the selective Purchase College Film Conservatory in New York. While a student at Purchase she created four short films including a documentary about the murder of a doctor in Buffalo entitled Propaganda. Propaganda premiered in 2004 at the Rome International Film Festival in Rome, Georgia where Julia was nominated for ‘Most Promising New Filmmaker’.
